The Kariega Game Reserve
Kariega’s landscape and topography is some of the most beautiful of all the game reserves in the Eastern Cape. Set in 10,000 hectares of pristine African wilderness, it has stunning views and vistas from nearly every elevated point on the reserve.
The Kariega and Bushmans rivers border the reserve and add to the beauty. Kariega Game Reserve also enjoys large numbers of general game and wildlife making their game viewing and birding experience exceptional.
Kariega is also home to the famous Thandi who survived an awful poaching attempt. Her subsequent recovery and great success as mother to a number of new calves has captivated the world and has been an inspiration to many. Read her story here: The Survivor, Thandi the Rhino.
Accommodation
We are offering wonderful SA Resident packages for stays at Ukhozi Lodge and/or Settlers Drift. These lodges offer you a relaxed and friendly environment to enjoy the African bush.
Ukhozi Lodge truly captures the romance and intimacy of Africa. Superbly sculpted from stone, wood and glass, this stylish and uniquely designed lodge forms idyllic spaces and nestles subtly into the landscape
Settlers Drift Lodge is located in a remote and untouched part of the Kariega wilderness. Settlers Drift offers a unique tented safari combined with 5-star luxury. The lodge consists of 9 spacious tented suites, each with stunning views and secluded viewing decks .

- 2 Game drives daily (Group vehicle is covid compliant maximum passengers to be 6 persons until lockdown restrictions eased)

Settlers Drift Lodge
